Elddis Transport is a co-founder of Jigsaw Solutions Limited - The new national player in the Transport Industry. We are also a member of the the Transport Association. We operate one of the most modern fleet of vehicles in the country, including a fleet of Specialised Vehicles for specific customer contracts. All of our articulated vehicles operate at the maximum 44 tonne GVW.

The Artic fleet is controlled from our national traffic office in Consett. This office is open from 08:00hrs Sunday morning through to 16:00hrs on Saturday afternoon. Vehicles operate 24 hours per day 7 days per week and cover all of the major cities in the UK everyday.

Over 250 curtain-sided trailers are used in the Artic operations; all of these trailers can carry 26 standard pallets and have air suspension. The majority of our trailers are high cube trailers, which can carry over 100 cubic metres of goods. All trailers introduced since 1998 have been fitted with Disc Brakes and either ABS or EBS braking systems.

All vehicles are fitted with in-cab telephones to ensure efficient communications to the traffic office. The vehicles are controlled and scheduled using the latest Mandata Manpack 3 IT Software.

A single IT system controls everything from vehicle operations, warehouse management, accounts and POD control. This ensures effective management of all consignments.

Vehicles based in separate operating centres strategically placed in Larkhall (Scotland), Consett (Co. Durham) and Dinnington (South Yorkshire) ensure that Elddis can provide the flexibility required to service an ever more demanding customer base.

All Depots are linked into the Elddis Traffic Management system in real-time. All operational and administration staff have access to e-mail and internet. A high percentage of work is received through direct computer links and interfaces with customers.

The Transport operations provide groupage services as well as unit load movements. Elddis consolidate for several of the major supermarket chains at its Consett site, delivering to their distribution centres throughout the United Kingdom.
